The Wood Buffalo Trail Running Series is a running race series that aims to encourage off-road running in the community of Wood Buffalo.  Race participants can be anyone from beginners to seasoned veterans.  The goal is to compete and challenge yourself in a fun and supportive atmosphere and to get outside and explore our beautiful region.

History

After a really fun out-of-town trail racing season in the summer of 2012 a bunch of passionate local Fort McMurray runners wanted to bring their own trail racing series to their hometown and region.  From this desire to get out and explore their own backyard they decided to create the Wood Buffalo Trail Running Series.

Series Information

The Wood Buffalo Trail Running Series has 3 races each year throughout May to October. Each event will offer two different race distances: SPORT (one loop from 6-8km) and ENDURO (two loops from 12 - 16km).  The distances will be different dependent on the race's location.

In 2017 there will be 3 races in the series with a points system to tally up the top 10 finishers of each gender with the highest point athletes winning an overall series grand prize at the end of the season.
